The history of Mixed Fried Rice can be traced back to the Southern and Northern Dynasties period in China when it was known simply as “fried rice.” Over time, the ingredients and preparation methods of fried rice have continuously evolved and improved, leading to the popularity of Mixed Fried Rice as one of people’s favorite dishes. Not only does it offer great taste, but it also boasts high nutritional value, containing protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients. It helps to enhance physical strength, improve appetite, and promote digestion.

Ingredients for Mixed Fried Rice:

Rice 200g
Bamboo Shoots 20g
Shiitake mushroom 20g
Green peas 20g
Egg 100g
Scallion 10g
Salt 5g
Chopped green onion 8g
Carrot 20g
Ham sausage 30g

Step:

1.First, let’s steam the rice. Prepare clean and washed rice and pour it into an electric rice cooker. The general ratio of water to rice is 1:1, which means equal amounts of water and rice. Place the cleaned rice into the rice cooker and add the same amount of water. Ensure a 1:1 ratio of water to rice for plump and well-textured steamed rice. Next, follow the instructions for the rice cooker’s steaming function and start the steaming program. By following these steps, you will easily steam delicious white rice.

2.Next, let’s prepare the side ingredients. Wash and bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, and carrots. Also, prepare a handful of green peas and a piece of ham sausage, diced in the same way. Then, bring a pot of water to a boil and add a pinch of salt. Blanch the diced vegetables in the boiling water. The blanching time is approximately 1 minute, which helps maintain the crispness of the vegetables and makes them easier to digest. Once blanched, use a strainer or chopsticks to remove the vegetables from the water and rinse them with cold water to stop further cooking. Drain the excess water from the vegetables and transfer them to a bowl for later use. Following these steps, we have prepared a variety of side ingredients, including  bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, carrots, green peas, and ham sausage. These vegetables, combined together, not only add layers of color and texture but also contribute to the overall nutrition and deliciousness of the meal.

3.Next, we can heat up the wok and add an appropriate amount of oil. Once the oil is hot, add the diced ham sausage to the wok and stir-fry them. Use a spatula to evenly stir-fry the ham sausage until they become slightly golden and crispy. This process only takes a short time, usually a few minutes is enough. Once the ham sausage turns golden and fragrant, immediately remove them from the wok and drain any excess oil. Following these steps, we have successfully stir-fried the ham sausage, giving them a crispy texture and enticing aroma.

4.Next, crack two eggs into a bowl and whisk them with chopsticks or a fork until well beaten. Then, heat up the wok and add an appropriate amount of oil. Once the oil is hot, pour the beaten eggs into the wok and quickly scramble them. Use a spatula to rapidly stir and scramble the eggs, ensuring even heating and forming small egg curds. Continue stirring quickly until the eggs are cooked and appear as loose egg curds. This process only takes a few minutes to complete.

5.After scrambling the eggs, add the steamed rice to the wok and use a spatula or spoon to separate and stir-fry the rice, ensuring that each grain is evenly heated. Next, add the previously stir-fried ham sausage and continue to stir-fry for even distribution. This allows the flavors of the rice and ham sausage to blend fully and adds richness to the texture. Then, add the blanched vegetables to the wok and continue stir-frying. You can add a pinch of salt according to personal taste to adjust the flavor. Finally, sprinkle with chopped green onions and stir-fry again. The aroma of the green onions will add an extra flavor to the dish.

6.After stir-frying evenly, we can transfer the fried rice to a serving plate and get ready to enjoy it. Gently pour the fried rice into the plate and use a spatula or spoon to shape and arrange it for an appealing presentation. This carefully prepared fried rice has loose and distinct rice grains, complemented by the aroma of ham sausage, vegetables, and green onions, offering a rich and diverse texture. It is not only a delicious main dish but also a nutritionally balanced dish.

Tips:

1.When stir-frying the rice, it’s important not to use too much oil, as it can make the dish overly greasy.

2.Vegetables and meats can be chosen and paired according to personal taste and preference, but it is important to consider the combination of colors and flavors to achieve a well-balanced result.
