Ingredients for Jujube Steamed Cake

Brown sugar 100g
Flour 300g
Baking powder 5g
Yeast 5g
Egg two
Jujube 20g
Edible oil 5g

Steps:

1.Place 100 grams of brown sugar in a bowl and add 200 milliliters of warm water. Stir with chopsticks until the brown sugar completely dissolves, forming a brown sugar syrup.

2.In another large bowl, add 300 grams of flour, 5 grams of baking powder, and 5 grams of yeast. Stir with chopsticks until well mixed. Then add 2 eggs and an appropriate amount of cooking oil. Continue stirring until all the ingredients are evenly combined, forming a batter. Pour the dissolved brown sugar syrup into the batter and mix well with chopsticks or a mixer, ensuring there are no lumps of sugar in the batter.

3.Choose a round mold suitable for steaming and brush a thin layer of cooking oil on it to prevent the batter from sticking. Pour the well-mixed batter into the mold and use a scraper or spoon to smooth the surface. Arrange cleaned and pitted Jujube evenly on the surface of the batter. You can decorate according to your preference or cut the red dates into small pieces and sprinkle them on top of the batter.

4.Cover the mold with a lid or wrap it with plastic wrap, then place it in a warm place for fermentation. It usually takes about 30 minutes for the batter to ferment and double in size. Steam the cake for 30 minutes. Place the fermented steamed cake in a steamer and steam over high heat for 30 minutes. Pay attention to controlling the heat to avoid overcooking the cake.

5.After cooling, the Jujube steamed cake will become even softer and more fluffy, with a delightful texture. You can cut it into pieces and enjoy it with milk or coffee, or savor it as a snack or dessert.

Tips

1.Choose large and plump Jujube with vibrant colors, without obvious damage or insect infestation. This ensures a sweeter taste and better texture for the steamed cake.
2.Avoid steaming the cake for too long, approximately 20 minutes is sufficient. Oversteaming can result in a dry and tough texture, affecting the overall taste.
3.For a more diverse flavor, you can add some nuts, dried fruits, or raisins to the Jujube steamed cake, enhancing the texture and taste.

Once the steamedJujube cake has cooled down, it can be easily removed from the mold and cut into small pieces. Each bite will allow you to savor the rich sweetness of the Jujube and the soft texture of the steamed cake. Whether it’s for breakfast, afternoon tea, or festive gatherings, Jujube steamed cake is always a popular snack.
